Edinburgh’s Council labour leader Ewan Aitken is in fear of losing the leader’s role because a few Labour councillors are just waiting in the wings to get their hands on the job - are they not Lesley? To help him keep his position, he has again been blustering to the Evening News about the Gospel according to Rasputin. The only problem is it is full of inaccuracies and half truths.
First of all he forgets to mention the terrible state he left the city’s finances in as leader of the Council doubled up with most of the problems coming from Children & families where of course he was in charge as Executive Member for years. He also didn’t mention that his former Director at Children & Families, Roy Jobson, managed to somehow secretly get an unspecified high paying job from the Council owned EDI just before Labour were booted out by the electorate.
Although Jenny Dawg’s pace so far has been has not been blistering (and we’ll be commenting on it quite soon), to take another lecture in public from Rasputin after the mess he made tends to bring stones and glasshouses to mind.
Just some of the inaccuracies:
of course, the SNP Government at Holyrood has now cancelled five schools planned by Labour.
Yes they were planned by labour, only up to the stage of getting the funds to build them - then they stopped.
Proportional representation, (delivered by Labour), has changed the face of Scottish local government.
Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire. Proportional representation was delivered by a Lab/Lib-Dem government and it was a Lib-Dem policy that they forced on Labour to accept the coalition.
Maybe Rasputin Aitken should change his religion to Roman Catholic - he can then go along to confession and get his 5 Hail Marys to forgiveness. He really is becoming more and more of a prat as each press quote appears.
