CLD front line services to be slashed

Children and Families front line services slashed

C & F slash their front line services

It seems that six Edinburgh community centres are going to have their front-line worker taken away in the latest slashing in Children and Families. Interestingly, the report that shows the slashing was only came out two days after the last Education, Children & Families Committee meeting and all the neighbourhood based paper-pushing Managers are all sitting happy in their jobs. EdinburghSucks revealed some time ago that the CLD Managers’ salary packages were ₤80,464 back in 2005/06 with one getting a package rise of ₤31,632 or 65%. For the proof, click here. They also have deputies who we think are on ₤69,650.

The latest report we have show the cuts that will happen:

  • 5 Neighbourhood based Senior Community Learning and Development front line workers – saving ₤202,000
  • 6 Community Centre Community Learning and Development front line workers – saving ₤206,000
  • 2 Central based Senior Community Learning and Development front line workers and other staff cuts – saving ₤194,000

with a total of 16.5 full time workers slashed – the vast majority coming from front line services.

Now excuse us for being a bit logical about this. They have to save ₤850,000 from the budget. Take the 5 Neighbourhood managers (their deputies have to be be able to do their jobs on holidays etc. anyway), Fraudster Rosendale, his wife and all his lackeys in headquarters and the 850k will be in the bank -and some.

Not only will the council have saved all the front line services but they will also have taken out another layer of bureaucracy that Labour put in to give pals a job. They will also have solved the much thought over “Rosendale Problem”.

UPDATE: What are the new council doing – trying to hide the bad news. We now notice that Councillor Andrew Burns has to find information about his committee on EdinburghSucks.com (click here) rather than being given copies by his own officials. Shurely Shome Mishtake – Nah!

  1. Re article on CLD frontline services.

I am a member of the management
committee of one of the Community
centres affected by these proposals and it is a general
opinion that if the managers are
‘redeployed’ these community centres will be forced to close.

    Although this is what ‘Fraudster
    Rosendale’ and his cronies really
want, it is a disgrace when these
centres provide a unique social service in local communities for all ages and
    ‘classes’.

For example, our centre alone runs
    over 50 different groups involving
    over 1000 people per week.

It has just came through a performance review with flying colours, chiefly due
    to the current
    ‘CLDW’,s management skills,
enthusiasm and dedication to her local community.

With all the social problems that
    prevail, these centres should have
maximum support and not used as a tool by council officials to achieve their
    questionable objectives.

Why tear up Greenspaces to build
    new Community Centres when they
really want to close them or use
    them for another purpose ?

Another proposalis to REDUCE janitorial cover, why? when there is woefully
inadequate cover for sicknees and absence at the moment!

I write this in the hope you can
make the public in general more aware of these rediculous proposals.

    After all £850.000 isn,t a lot of
    money,probably about a months worth
    of frauding and wasting !!
