SNP Councillor: “Our leader is a liar”

City council SNP Leader came in today for condemnation by one of his own councillors. The councillor who at the moment requests to remain anonymous was “shocked and disgusted by Steve’s comments in the Evening News today when he knew that the figures were another of Edinburgh Leisure’s fabrications.” This is the first time a sitting SNP councillor in Edinburgh has come out so heavy against the leadership.

In today’s Evening News, Steve “The Thug” Cardownie echoed Edinburgh Leisure’s lies that each crèche place was subsidised by £13 per customer which has since been shown to be a lie by Edinburgh Leisure’s own figures and not only did Cardownie know this but so did all of the councillors sitting in the meeting today.

In his email and later telephone conversation the SNP councillor told us “One of the first things Steve warned us about when we were elected in May last year was to be careful of what we were told by the officials but he keeps trotting out all their words verbatim. It’s completely puzzling.”

As Edinburgh Sucks.com reported earlier today, all councillors were informed that the real costs for subsidy was in fact £5.41 but others have said it was as low as £3.14. What still hasn’t been taken into account is if those 18,500 parents who use the facilities each year cancelled their family membership and never used the sporting facilities the loss to Edinburgh Leisure would be much higher than the subsidy.

With this latest news coming from deep within the SNP camp and obviously at the highest level where will this end up. Another senior SNP councillor told EdSucks yesterday that he had the £5.41 figure and would be fighting for his constituents to keep the crèches open.

On STV tonight the SNP’s leisure antipodean leader, Deidre Brock, (who herself is in the close run race for Ugliest Councillor in Scotland together with Elizabeth Maginnis, Lesley Hinds, Jenny Dawg and of course Thug Cardownie himself) spouted that it would be better to close all the all the crèches rather than one centre. This was of course complete scare tactics and no swim centre is at risk at all - let’s hope that her constituents see through her lies and throw her to the gutter where she belongs at the next election.

With such discontent in the SNP’s council camp - it may be that Rasputin Aitken amazingly just could have gotten something right.
