Edinburgh Leisure will tell any lies they can to keep their party.
Last week Edinburgh Sucks telephoned Edinburgh Leisure to ask how much they were spending on their all-expenses paid party to celebrate 10 years of success. We were told that we would get the information but unfortunately as we expected, to date nothing has arrived in our email box.
Imagine how shocked we were when an email did arrive last night. Obviously our request to Edinburgh Leisure must have gotten out to the staff and we’d like to thank the insider who emailed us last night.
It seems that the bill for the celebration of their success in scrapping crèches is going to be in excess of about quarter of a million pounds when the staff time is taken into consideration.
“The staff were shocked when we read about the crèches closing when so much time, effort, money and resources are going into this party to make the bosses look good in front of the councillors and the papers” the staffer told us. “We are all really devistated for our colleagues who work in the crèches. Most of us just don’t want the party and would rather the money be spent on the crèches. A few of us got together and worked out how much money the stupid party is costing including the enormous staff time that is being used for the party and we reckon it is now getting close to 250k”
“Reporters from the BBC, GMTV and the Evening News have been snooping around but we have all been warned that disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who blabs thats why we have to email you from our home computesr. The bosses were not happy about your last story on the crèches and say that your site is just just lies an innuendo. When they read this then they will know it’s not.”
You have to do what you can to save the jobs of our colleagues. There are even some of the top bosses who think what they are doing is dispicable. Some people are speaking about a mass boycott of the party but everyone is scared in case they get fired for speaking out.
Edinburgh Sucks were the first city publication to bring the news that 6 out of 8 crèches will be closing in June with the only two to remain open being the Commonwealth Pool and Ainslie Park. Of course everyone in the city knows that the Commonwealth Pool will be closing for a couple of years for renovation so in fact 7 out of the 8 crèches will be closing.
We have also heard that there will be a deputation of mothers today at the full council meeting to plead with councillors to step into the fray and stop the madness.
Lying chiefs at Edinburgh Leisure have publicised that each place in the crèches is subsides to the tune of £13. Very quickly this was proven to be a lie and the true figure by their own statistics took it down to £5.41 but other experts have taken it even further down to £3.14 and have said that it will probably go down further. Interestingly, a lot of parents have emailed us and said that they maybe would be willing to pay more for the provision but nobody at Edinburgh Leisure bothered even asking parents.
