SNP lying about Scottish health – we have the documentary evidence. UPDATED

Developing Story…….

The SNP government in the guise of a press release from Public Health Minister Shona Robison have this week lied to the Scottish public about the current state of health in Scotland.

The press release which was released on April 27th stated that Scotland led the way. We have the proof that contrary to Shona Robison’s statement, in fact Scotland comes LAST in the UK on the provision. It is a complete LIE.

Making matters worse, EdSucks have engaged a fully qualified award-winning freelance journalist tried to arrange an interview with the Minister on the press release with a view to putting the story out to various media outlets. Unfortunately, we have just heard from Parliament’s press office that the Minister is not available for interview.

The journalist was asked to supply questions in advance which was refused, but he did give the reason for the interview including the research he had at hand and would rely upon for the interview.

We are going to punt this story around various other media outlets including TV, Radio and Dead Tree Press and will keep this site updated on the progress.

When you hear the Scottish Government telling you that their objective is to reduce inequality in Scotland – we can tell you now, the evidence shows, that’s pish.

UPDATE: If there are any Health Journos out there who we have not contacted yet feel free to use the contact form or call our journalist on 0131-620-1839

UPDATE II: Robison has form. The personal histories of children lay discarded for months at Strathmartine Hospital, which closed in 2005 and is in the Dundee East constituency of Shona Robison, the public health minister. At first Minister’s questions: “after seven months of knowing about the situation, the public health minister took no effective action to make sure the personal records of hospital patients in Dundee were secure”.

UPDATE 3: We kid you not – this happened yesterday.

On this story we phoned the BBC Edinburgh office and were put through to the newsroom.

EdSucks: I am running a story on how the Minister for Public Health lied on a press release she sent out on Tuesday saying Scotland led the world in a health discipline. I have documentary evidence that she is lying, are you interested.

BBC: Did we run the story.

EdSucks: No, I checked your site and there is nothing.

BBC: Well if we never ran it we can’t run a correction

EdSucks: No, you don’t get it. The story is not the press release the story is that the Minister lied in the press release and I have the documentary evidence. It is top notch research backed by professors on both sides of the atlantic.

BBC: That’s twice you have said that the Minister lied. How do you know what she was briefed. You just cannot say she lied.

EdSucks: You don’t understand. The quote she made in the press release is not the truth. Scotland does not lead the way. I have documentary evidence which I reckon would stand up in court saying that without going worldwide. Scotland is in fact last in the UK. Northern Ireland, England and Wales are ahead of them. I actually have the evidence backed by Research. Scotland doesn’t lead the way. She lied in her quote on the press release.

BBC: That’s three times. Ministers say what they are advised to by their officials.

EdSucks: Since when was the BBC paid to deflect criticism of Scottish Ministers?

BBC: Click.

EdSucks: (So if that journalist (sic) is reading this – that is what you missed) Bastard! You must be shagging her

Unfortunately we never got his name, just newsroom.

The above is not word for word but it is the truthful jist of the very short conversation.

Developing Story…….

  3. Personally, I’m amazed that BBC Scotland didn’t bite your hand off to run yet another anti-SNP story, however, in this case the person you spoke to is absolutely correct in the fact that ministers rely on the FACTS their civil servants give them.

You would be far better served posting the information of the big LIE here so that readers can see what you’re actually talking about.

Your assertion that Shona Robinson, deliberately ignored misplaced records abandoned in a Labour shut down hospital is utter shite.

The quote you’ve lifted from former Lib Dem leader Nicol Stephens, without attribution is as follows:

    Nicol Stephen (Liberal Democrat)

On 31 January, I told the First Minister about a patient who had been deleted from the waiting list by Tayside NHS Board. Within 30 minutes, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing had phoned Tayside Health Board and, by tea time, the board had reversed its position. That patient has now been treated. Why, then, do we find that, after knowing about the situation at Strathmartine hospital for seven months, the Minister for Public Health took no effective action to ensure that the personal records of hospital patients in Dundee were secure? Why the difference?

    Alex Salmond (Scottish National Party)

The health minister took the action of notifying the health board twice and was given assurances that the matter was being dealt with. Those things are not in dispute, because the health board has put its hands up, has acknowledged the serious situation and its responsibility for it and, even more important, is introducing procedures that will prevent it from happening again. That, at least, I hope Nicol Stephen will welcome.

Salmond’s response deals with the matter fairly and squarely, laying the fault and solution directly at the feet of those responsible. Or is he lying too?

  5. Doctor Doom “The quote you’ve lifted from former Lib Dem leader Nicol Stephens, without attribution is as follows”

The quote I lifted was from the Telegraph and it is linked from the word “form”.

Nevertheless, the fact that she lied in the press release is correct.

  6. What a pile of pre-loaded pro Labour pish. Where is the evidence, and what aspects of the information were uncovered/referred to by this ‘top notch reporter?

    Why is he anonymous?

Is that a term for somebody who releases a labour press release and tries to dress it up as news?

I say that for several reasons that jump from the page, but the major one is this absolute tosh that the BBC are into sticking up for the Scottish Government!

    That is utter nonsense.

if you want to sell us crappy new labour, then do so honestly instead of this jumped up blop crap.

  7. John see what I said to Walter: You and Walter should get together. You are both eminently qualified to become a party candidate, not just for the SNP but for any party – this is because you are both a pair of prikcs who are unable read and have been fed some verbal liquid bowel movements and are able to spout it at will.

The most frightening thing is you cnuts have a fcuking vote. Us, Liebore—– jeez

  8. Mr Basa, this wasn’t some hidden quote, it is a matter of Parliamentary record, even theyworkforyou, com has it as below. I note you don’t respond to Salmond’s comments was he lying too?

Sorry I dinb’t notice your highlighted form, I’m colourblind, but sheesh your big expose is a story first put about by Allan Cochrane a year ago!

You may not be a Labour supporter, but you’re certainly coming across like a Labour politician, unable to partake in debate or even provide evidence for your assertions.

Posted by Doctor Doom | May 3, 2009, 6:14 pm
  9. Dr. Doom: So we have something in common – both colour-blind.

Don’t know what you are speaking about with hidden quote – expose has nothing at all to do with the Telegraph quote. That’s why it was linked from “form”.

Definitely not a Labour supporter but the evidence will come…. hence the “Developing story…” not only at the beginning of the story but also the end. Sheeesh – hope you are not blind as well, because if the blind in Scotland are treated the same as the deaf then we really have huge problems.

Now you are wasting my bandwidth – we don’t need readers that can’t read, we’ve got enough problems with writers that can’t write. L8er

  10. Well, I for one welcome any expose of our lying, corrupt politicians – of ALL parties.
Walter, Dr Doom et al, if you read some more posts it will become evident that The Basa is no Nue Liebour fan, and treats all politicians who lie for a living to the same treatment.
Thank you The Basa for coming back and putting the politicians back in their place!
