Two depressing things witnessed – Shame on the City’s Council!

Two depressing things witnessed by me today as a result of poorly planned and executed tramworks fiasco / traffic diversions:

Sad thing #1) Sight-impaired lady with white stick patiently standing at Pedestrian Crossing at Queensferry Street opposite Ryan’s Bar. (The same crossing that, even when the Green Man is on, has no traffic light to stop buses/taxis/bikes turning from Princes St / Charlotte Square into Queensferry Street from driving straight through the crossing when Green Man is lit.) Anyway, not only where buses/bikes/taxis driving through crossing while Green Man was on, but also the “Beeps” to tell the blind lady that it was ###supposed### to be safe to cross weren’t actually working. So her chances of crossing the road safely, unaided, were zero.

Sad thing #2) Elderly lady in wheelchair with carer, attempting to gain access to Princes St Gardens to enjoy the nice weather. No hope of getting to ramps due to tramworks, so stuck at top of stairs at West End of Princes Street. Lady in wheelchair, quite understandably, didn’t want help of strangers to be lifted down massive flight of stairs to allow her to access the gardens, so was faced with either not gaining access to gardens, or else long-distance detour in the hope of gaining access somewhere along King Stables Road.

This Gnat/FibDumb council are as bad as the labour shytes that preceeded them.
