New Director to clean up Property Conservation Department?

A couple of sources have been informing us over the past few days of news that a new director has been appointed to oversee the shamed Property Conservation department in the City of Edinburgh Council and to ‘clean it up’. With more digging we have actually come up with a name. The news into the EdSucks gang-hut is that the new person is now actually in post and was started on what will probably be a six-figure salary plus of course a nice pension pot. This raises a number of questions if true especially as we have been trawling around and we can find no evidence of such a post being advertised at all.

Andrew Field - New Director - City of Edinburgh Council?

New Director?

Anyhoo, our news is that former Portobello High School pupil Mr. Andrew field is the new boy in town. Mr Field is not new to the council. One of his two linked-in profiles tells us that he was previously a Business Manager at the City of Edinburgh council and one of our sources tells us that he previously worked very closely in the Housing Department with former councillor Sheila Gilmore who is now the Member of Parliament for Edinburgh East and was formerly Executive Member for Housing who tried to push through the sell-off of council houses. Mr. Field more recently was the Deputy Chief Executive at Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and one of his Linked-in profiles now lists him as Consultant at Self Employed.

Initial enquiries to various members of the council have so far come up blank but our sources (more than one) have tipped the balance for us to believe that he is indeed in place. We do wonder whether this new person is merely an independent contracting consultant brought in rather than a member of staff at Director level but we are sure now that we have published this information that more will come out in the next few days in the Evening Chip Paper.
