It transpired on television last night that six of the eight crèches in Edinburgh would be closing forthwith without any consultation at all. So much for the listening FibDem/SNP administration who are now showing that childcare in Edinburgh is in it’s biggest crisis in living memory.

All the people who are gaining from the tram kit that they are installing into the city – mostly the Chamber of Commerce, the high-pressure selling FSB, highly paid TIE executives, persons in receipt of plain brown envelopes have gotten themselves into bed with the council on a quango called Open for Business.

It seems Edinburgh’s Chamber of Commerce are as good at fighting for their members as the Council are for businesses and that is pisspoor. After a few days of guffawing over who should get the cash windfall and a reduction in business rates the Council and EDI have caved in and brought the cut-off
