City Schools in Retirement Timebomb
Figures today revealed that more that 54 percent of teachers in Edinburgh’s schools are aged between 46 and 65 and will have left the profession by 2020.
Teaching leaders today warned Edinburgh may be particularly affected by a teacher shortage as high property prices may put teaching graduates off from applying for jobs in the Capital. [...]
Executive’s PE targets have failed
When our children are getting heavier and heavier through among other things, lack of exercise, our leaders are again failing us:
“Peter Peacock, the education minister, has admitted the Executive will fail to hit its target of recruiting 400 new PE teachers into Scottish schools by 2007 under current teacher training programmes.
